MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Google has updated its augmented reality Measure app to support the company’s ARC-rotch standard. Unlike the original version of Measure, which was limited to only measuring bananas.
“This is a real step forward for augmented reality,” said Emily Lamb, Google’s head of AR. “There really was no practial use for measuring the size of bananas but it seems guys really loved it.”
The news comes on the heels of Apple announcing its own Measure app earlier this month which similarly grant users the ability to measure “objects” simply by pointing their phone’s camera at them.
Says a naive Lamb, “We wanted to make sure people always know the width, girth and length of anything in their grasp…anything at all.”
